Mangaluru: Srinivas University celebrates International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 21: Srinivas University Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Pandeshwar campus under Unnat Bharath Abhiyan Forum, Srinivas Institute of Rural Reconstruction Agency (SIRRA), and NSS conducted International Yoga Day at thr Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Chelairu on June 21.

The chief guest Chelairu GP PDO K Nithyananda addressed the gathering and explained the importance of Yoga in everyone's life.

Education Department of Mangalore Block resource person Nagaraj M. explained how yoga is connected to our daily life and our health. Requested students to continue yoga in their daily life not keep it for only yoga day.

Head mistress of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Chelairu Krishnaveni presided over the function. Resource person, yoga instructor and PRO of Komalsparsh Counselling Centre Sunitha Nayak conducted Yoga sessions for students. Srinivas University SIRRA co-ordinator Dr Vidya N, faculty convenor of the programme and assistant professor of ISSH Prof Joyson P Cardoza, Srinivas University ISSH BA Journalism and Mass communication lecturer Prof Sushmitha, teachers of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School Chelairu, MSW and BSW Students of Srinivas University ISSH, students of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Chelairu actively participated in Yoga day celebration.

Student Prajna welcomed the gathering. Vote of thanks was proposed by Shreyas Shenoy and Raju was the MC for the programme.
