Mangaluru, Jun 21: The solemn ceremony witnessed the presence of Vivek Vijay Kumar, assistant professor in the department of Marine Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Sr Sarika, the principal, Sr Violette, the administrator, Lavita, the member of School Managing Committee. The esteemed guests received an exuberant welcome on their arrival with the rhythmic beats of the School Band and traditional Aarthi.
The students praised God for His mighty presence through an opening song followed by a unique prayer service wherein the students through singing of hymns and dances implored God to make the lives of the leaders a little light and to be their Guru and to enable them to be creative, confident, courageous, maintain contact with Him at all times and considerate leaders.
Symphonious song on leadership was sung by Carmel Choir followed by authentic lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries as a tribute to God given wisdom and knowledge. Thereafter the respected dignitaries bestowed upon the captains’ badges and sashes symbolic of the responsibilities of an ardent torch bearer.
Donning the mantle of responsibility, they pledged to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities and abide by rules and regulations of the school and uphold the School Motto –‘Ever Onward'. Janice Jimmy expressed her emotions and gratitude to the principal and the entire faculty for the opportunity received to be the head girl of the prestigious institution and assured that as a team they would join hands in taking the school to the greater height of success. Vivek Vijay Kumar highlighted on various aspects of a good leader and instilled in the students the importance of being responsible and disciplined. He set for the students a reminder that investiture ceremony is a souvenir to serve with humility and selflessness through citing of examples - world class leaders. He further imprinted upon the students the necessity to dwell in the present moment for the present moment contains both the past and future; the secret of transformation is in the way one handles the very moment.
Sr Sarika, the principal in her presidential address gave a clarion call to the student leaders to be exemplary in behavior, work with utmost genuineness, create a culture of empathy and reverence and to be vigilant to every activity happening in the second home of learning so that the school environment becomes healthy, caring, safe, progressive and conducive to growth.
The students who were inducted into the student council are Janice Jimmy-head girl and Brijesh-head boy. Sonia Rodrigues and Liffin compered the programme. Sr Preena- vice principal proposed the vote of thanks.
