Mangaluru, Jun 20: The orientation programme for the new students of I PUC was held on Monday,June 20 in the college auditorium.
The programme commenced with an invocation. The students and parents were cordially welcomed and introduced to the vision and mission of the college and acquainted with the rules and regulations of the college through a video. There was a short demonstration of the college app, and details on how to download and use the app.
Principal Sr Norine D'Souza briefed the students about the expectations the college had from them. The main focus of the day was to ensure that parents partner with the college in monitoring the performance, behaviour and progress of their wards.
The chief guest, Dr Caroline D'Souza, Neuro Psychiatrist addressed the audience on how this new beginning is an opportunity to reflect and work with a new sense of purpose. She gave them tips and pointers on how to overcome the hurdles they may face and how to cement the parent-child relationship by establishing good communication lines between themselves and their children during this transition period of adolescence when their wards are susceptible to stress, peer pressure, addiction to social media etc.
The toppers of the I PU Annual Examination-Ivin Sequeira, Sanjana Ravish, Samruddhi D &SamhitaPrabhu were felicitated by Dr Caroline.
Privy, an alumna spoke in glowing terms about her experience in the college & exhorted the I PU students to seize every opportunity and make the most of their life on the campus. Mamtha S Prabhu, the parent of Samhita also engaged the audience with her positive feedback. Samriddhi D spoke about how being a part of the Science Integrated Batch enabled her to prepare well for the exams.
The Vividhya team addressed the science students and gave them a birds eye view of the Integrated Batch which could be a game changer if they plan to answer competitive exams.
Suvasini, lecturer in Biology compered the event, Hariet, lecturer in Commerce welcomed and introduced the chief guest, and the Principal thanked the parents for their enthusiastic presence.
Preema Pereira and Liekitha were the convenors of the event. Vice principal Sr Janet Sequeira, PTA member Asha Sanjeevana and the faculty were present on the occasion.
