Puttur: ‘Shila Muhurta’ of Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple Tomorrow

Puttur, Mar 11: The ‘Shila Muhurta’ for the reconstruction of the famous Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple here will be conducted at the temple premises on Saturday March 12, in the presence of temple Tantri and architect. This was informed by Achut Moodettaya, one of the leaders in the temple reconstruction committee, at a press conference held on Thursday March 10.

“For the foundation of the temple, about a lac stones will be required. A programme to dedicate them to the temple will be held on March 24. Devotees have come forward to donate all these stones. They have been allowed to participate as donor, by paying Rs 25 per stone,” he explained. Moodettaya also revealed that a stone slab measuring 18 ft x 15 ft, required for the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, is being readied in Karkala.

Temple administrative officer, Y Shivaramaiah, Chanila Timmappa Shetty, Rajesh Bannur, and Chandrashekhar Rao Bappalige were present at the press conference.
