Beltangady: ICYM Holds Yuvasambram for Youth

Beltangady, Mar 9: ICYM Belltangady organized for the youth of the varado a unique programme Yuvasambram at St Antony’s Church, Ujire, recently under the leadership of Fr Simon D’Souza, the varado youth director.

In all 135 youth from different parishes spent the whole day together and experienced the togetherness by participating in all the activities with dynamism and zeal. The youth of Ujire unit who were the hosts of the programme gave Konkani cultural touch to the whole atmosphere and gave a cordial welcome to the dignitaries and participants.

The programme was inaugurated by Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, the parish priest of Ujire parish and envisaged the youth to be more goal oriented and make use of all the opportunities available.

Fr Simon D’ Souza in his keynote address, encouraged the youth to take leadership in their own wards, parishes and bring happiness to the family and to the society. Fr James  D’ Souza, the vicar vara gave a strong messge to the youth to be value based youth in their life and to take life seriously, taking Jesus as a model. Sr Michelle, the lady animator of ICYM central council gave an inspiring message to take a brave step in the society to be more challenging youth.



Valerian Rodrigues, Vincent Rodrigues and Gilpin Pinto were also on the stage and added beauty to the inauguration. Br Vishal Pinto compered.

Roque Nicholos Noronha from Suratkal was the resource person who animated the group through his creative thoughts, discussions and life experience. Youth were very much edified with the session conducted by him.

All the youth were spiritually nourished through The Eucharistic celebration offered by Fr Henry Vas, the superior of Dayalbagh ashram, Ujire. In the afternoon, ICYM units enthusiastically participated in the Konkani cultural dance competition. The youth passionately mixed up in the one minute games and other competitions conducted by Fr Simon D’Souza, which made the youth very much alive and vibrant.

In the prize distribution ceremony, Fr Robert D’Souza, the assistant parish priest of Ujire, advised the youth to make use of their talents and abilities to build up their personalities for a better future in their life.

Richard F Saldanha and Arun Rebello were honored as they were the main sponsors for the whole programme. Nelson Monis, the president of ICYM Beltangady varado was the main pillar in organizing the great event with the full support of Ujire ICYM.

The hard work of Ujire icym unit headed by the parish priest was very much appreciated. The youth were very much moved with the useful programme organized for them with great concern and honour.
