Mangaluru, Jun 10: The inaugural function of International conference on 'Recent Trends in Mechanical Engineering Sciences, RTIMES' was held on June 10 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru. The international conference was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr KV Gangadharan, professor, dept of Mechanical Engineering and Head of Centre for system design NITK, Surathkal, Mangaluru. The programme was presided by Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, patron and principal of College. Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde, conference chair of RTIMES, Dr Shankar KS, conference chair of RTIMES and Dr Gangadhar Rao, convenor of RTIMES were present.

Delivering the inaugural address, Dr KV Gangadharan briefed about the need for more collaborative research in interdisciplinary areas. In his key note address, he called upon all the participants to have a productive time at discussing the emerging trends in Mechanical Engineering. He also talked about Evolution of mechanical trends and digital transformation.

Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, in his presidential address highlighted the importance of conferences in research and development, and the role of research exchange in latest trends. Also he put forward the challenges posed by emerging technologies and the need to identify technological interventions to address these issues.

Dr Gangadhar Rao, convenor of RTIMES presented the schedule of events that were lined up for the conference. Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde, conference chair of RTIMES welcomed the chief guest, dignitaries, and all the participants. Dr Shankar KS, conference chair of RTIMES offered the vote of thanks. Professor Vivek Vijay, department of Marine Engineering was the master of ceremonies.
