Doha, Jun 8: Over the years Tulukoota Qatar (TKQ), an associate organization of ICC under the aegis of Embassy of India, Doha-Qatar, has been in the forefront of environmental campaigns and has taken inspiration from nature as a source of selfless giving.
Over the years Tulukoota has been in the forefront in organizing an environment campaign to create awareness among its members. Every year Tulukoota initiates new activities to engage the members and make them aware of the environmental concerns globally.
Leading by its own precedence Tulukoota second time in a row took ahead the unique and one of its kind in Qatar, plant sapling exchange with the theme of Joy of Giving.
The mission of the event was to bring the member adults and kids together and engage in environment conservation thought and action to bring about a behaviour change towards environment conservation. On June 3 as a prelude to environment day Tulukoota organised an event at Vibrant Training centre.
The program was graced by Subramanya Hebbagilu – VP, ICC community leaders Milan Arun - Past president ICC,Deepak Shetty - ICC advisory board member , Tulukoota Qatar advisor Asmath Ali,Mahesh Gowda-KSQ president, Fayaz Ahmed - president KMCA, Raghunath Anchan President- Billavas Qatar,
Tulukoota president, Kiran Anand welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude towards the members for joining the environment movement. He emphasised that the programs would contribute towards all of us becoming conscious when utilizing the environment resources.
Subramanya Hebbagilu appreciated the efforts of TKQ in the environment conservation movement and also appreciated the efforts in bringing back-to-back programs that were engaging the members in a very effective manner.
Milan Arun also appreciated the efforts of the TKQ team and the committee in bringing out the best of the events and engaging the crowd while giving space to all the members in the community.
Tulukoota strongly believes that the seed of environment conservation will go a long way when inculcated in the young minds Throughout the event the theme of activities carefully was oven to keep the adults and kids together engaged in environment conservation activities. A unique experiential workshop was organised for the kids and the resource person was Shreya Suraj. They learnt to make use of wastepaper and convert the same into a creative art piece. The kids were supported by the parents and together as a unit they engaged in the workshop. The keen interest of the children got them engaged in the workshop and the excitement was visibly felt!!
All the kids who participated were given a takeaway from Tulukoota, A small pot for them to plant a seed and get started with environment conservation.
Tulukoota during the exchange had made sure that the plants wish of the members were met by matching accurately the donor and the receiver. This created the excitement as the donor and the receiver were not aware who was meeting who and this way TKQ created a space for new bond among the members.
With a record of 150 plus plant exchange among the members, where the members' wish of plant was fulfilled by each other took the joy of giving to create a space of vibrant energy and collective thought on significance of environment. Tulukoota also distributed the Jute bags showcasing as alternative to the members for their daily use chores.
Continuing last year’s traditions Tulukoota also gave away to all the participants a plant sapling called snake plant,it creates more oxygen and can be kept indoors. Tulukoota has named it with love as Bagheera and gave it to each giver as a token of appreciation for their engagement in the movement.
Talented team of Tulukoota performed a dance invoking the five elements of nature and invited all the members to join in collective reflection of our actions on mother earth. During the event to keep the audience engaged the MC organised a spot quiz, based on environment, for the adults and kids and distributed the prizes for the winners.
To add an element of nature more competitions were organised for adults and kids during the event. They were Rock painting and video reels on how each one of us will do our action towards nature. A great number of participations was observed in all the categories and many new ideas emerged for daily chores. Following were the winners of the competitions in various categories.

The events were judged by Milan Arun and Shweta Kosti, Pravina Shetty and Shreya Suraj.
The days event was compared by Sagar Kotian, general secretary of Tulukoota and Shamya Shetty. The duo coordinated and kept the audience engaged throughout the event. Dhanalakshmi Rai, PR and Media coordinator presented the vote of thanks for the event and expressed her gratitude to all the contributors and supporters.
On June 5, The world environment day Tulukoota like year-by-year organised Tree plantation at Qatar Finland International school.
Kiran Anand, president welcomed and thanked everyone who were present to support the cause of plantation. He emphasised that the place was chosen as the school has been taking care of the plants that were planted in the past. He also mentioned that Patron Ravi Shetty initiated the process in 2014 and TKQ has been able to continue the legacy of tree plantation. All the dignitaries together planted saplings and became part of the movement in their own small space.

Sagar Kotian presented a vote of thanks and hoped that the movement continues beyond the day.
