New Delhi, May 1: US secretary of defense Pete Hegseth and Indian defence minister Rajnath Singh held a telephonic conversation on Thursday, during which they discussed the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack that occurred on April 22. The attack, which killed 26 people, including Indian tourists and one Nepali national, was condemned by the United States.
Hegseth expressed his condolences for the loss of innocent lives and assured full US support for India’s fight against terrorism. Rajnath Singh, in turn, highlighted Pakistan's continued support for terrorist organizations, calling it a ‘rogue state’ that fuels global terrorism and destabilizes the region.

Singh emphasized the importance of the international community unequivocally condemning such acts of terrorism. He also pointed out Pakistan’s history of training and funding terrorists, particularly in relation to the Pahalgam attack.
Additionally, tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) were discussed, with reports of unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded promptly to the aggression.
