Mangalore, Mar 7: The parishioners of St Joseph’s parish, Jeppu celebrated Intruz Sunday, a celebration that has been followed over many decades at the parish on the last week of beginning of Lent every year, eighty-fifth annual day celebrations of St Joseph Natak Sangh and parish Youth Day to commemorate Youth Year, during a function held at Konkani Natak Sabha stage, Jeppu, here on Sunday March 6.
Fr Eric Crasta, principal of St Joseph’s College, Jeppu presided over the Holy Mass along with St Joseph’s Asylum Industrial Workshops director and manager Fr J B Crasta, Jeppu parishioner priest Fr William Barocose and Jeppu parish priest Fr Andrew D’Souza on Sunday morning.
Fr Eric Crasta in his homily laid stress on ‘Christian living should be led by the example of Jesus.’
Fr Eric Crasta presided over the stage programme held at Konkani Natak Sabha stage, St Joseph’s Nagar on Sunday evening.
Mangalore diocesan ICYM director Fr Anil D’Souza was the chief guest of the occasion.
Fr Anil called on the parish youth to grow in Christian spirit and utilize the talent for the welfare of their own parishes, urged Fr Anil.
Sr Emma, superior of Infant Mary Convent, Jeppu was the guest of honour.
Corporator Jacinta Alfred, Konkani Natak Sangh president Vijay Alfred, Jeppu parish council vice-president Pameela Santos and ICYM Jeppu parish unit president Jason Dias were present.
The prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions by the dignitaries.
The members of ICYM and YCS staged variety entertainment programme for an hour on the occasion.
Public tributes were offered to the legendary Konkani musician the late Wilfy Rebimbus during the programme, on the occasion of annual Mass.
Pameela Santos and Laveena Dias read the annual reports of Jeppu parish and Konkani Natak Sangh.
Amchem Resper Pati Kada, Konkani play by playwright the late Wilfy Rebimbus was staged by the parish youth as part of entertainment programme.
Fr J B Crasta welcomed the gathering. Alwyn Miranda compered the programme. Satish Fonseca proposed the vote of thanks.
