Kasargod: Policeman in Judicial Custody for Passport Fraud

Kasargod, Mar 4: Ashok (48), a resident of Nileshwar Pudukai, working as the head constable of special branch of police, was arrested and produced in the court on Thursday March 3. He was remanded to two weeks judicial custody.

Ashok was arrested by Jossy Cherian, deputy superintendent of police, Kanhangad. Reportedly, Ashok had issued police verification certificates relating to passport documents of a number of people, while serving in Hosadurga police station. While issuing these certificates, he used to fake the signatures of his colleagues. In some cases, even the signature of the sub-inspector was found to have been forged.

Relating to such incidents, a constable named Chandra, working in vigilance department here, was arrested last week. Ashok is the second from among the police personnel to have been arrested, relating to this scandal.
