Mangaluru, May 16: On May 14, The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management in association with the National Service Scheme conducted a 'Donation Drive'. The organizing chairperson was principal Dr Arun Bhagwat and organizing secretary Pavitra Shetty.
The students of YIASCM were asked to donate any old cloths, bags, masks, or sanitizers. These items were collected and then segregateda ccordingly, and approximate age and neatly packed and wrapped.
There were 20 NSS volunteers (Gloria, Suraksha, Akhila, Niharika, Shama, Shramika, Dhanyashree, Aathmiya, Noushin, Vikas, Sahad, Aparna, Fathima Fiza, Ayesha shaman, Shaina Ibrahim, Srujan and Nishwan) along with the NSS Officer reached Kavathar government school at 10.30 am and met the school headmaster and distributed sanitizers and clothes for the school children of their specific age.
Then all the NSS volunteers arrived at the next destination at Balkunje village wherethe volunteers donated bags and clothes to the family members.
The nextplace the group covered KSRTC bus stand on KS Rao road where they distributed the old clothes to the handicap people.
Then the volunteers and NSS officer went to Maidan Road, Statebank to donate the clothes to the homeless andpoor people living there.
Next, the volunteers had gone to the Milagres bus stand to donate a few clothes tothe people living there.
Then NSS volunteers visited to Pumpwell, under bridge and saw the poor people and children and lastly distributed mask, sanitizers, blankets, towel and old clothes.
The day was very interesting and all the volunteers felt the happiness in sharing happiness with them.
The zeal and enthusiasm of volunteers to work for social welfare without any prejudice throughout the year have been commendable.
