Doha, May 7: Utkalika Qatar celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Odisha foundation day on May 4 at ICC Ashoka Hall, Doha, Qatar. Indian Ambassador HE Dr Deepak Mittal inaugurated the cultural evening.

Odisha celebrates the foundation day every year on April 1 and this year the community members celebrated both Odisha foundation day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with much pump and ceremony. The president of Utkalika Dr Basanta Kumar Kabi welcomed audiences and stressed on his address that the community members must stay rooted to culture and diversity of the motherland.

On this occasion, HE, the ambassador felicitated children with trophies and certificates for Quiz and debate competition held during 2020 and 2021. The evening was also graced by Kuljeet Singh Arora second secretary, information, Culture & Education, Vinod V Nair, president ICBF and Subramanya Hebbagelu, vice president ICC.

The evening witnessed arrays of cultural programmes with a message of cultural diversity and inclusiveness of India. Finally the evening ended with word of encouragement and vote of thanks from the general secretary Abinash Acharya, vice president Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, joint secretary Bibhu Acharya, cultural secretary Ipsita Satpathy, joint cultural secretary Omprakash Parida.
