Mangaluru, May 5: The St Ann’s College of Education celebrated Graduation Day on Thursday, May 5 recognising the outstanding efforts of the M Ed and B Ed teacher trainees as they fly out of the portals of the institution as full-fledged teachers.
The programme began by invoking God’s blessings. Sr Zeena Periera A C, vice -principal welcomed the chief guest of the function, Dr Manjunatha Pattabi, professor and chairman, Material Science Department, dean, faculty of Science and Technology, Mangalore University. Sr Marie Lucy A C, joint secretary of St Ann’s Institutions and Superior, St Ann’s Convent, Mangalore, president of the programme, and principal, Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza A C.
The annual college report 2021-2022 was presented by Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza A C principal, Sr Zeena Pereira A C, vice-principal and Dr Rose Pinto, assistant professor. The cultural programme comprised a group song, and semi classical dance with extensive movements and grace. The chief guest addressed the gathering with his thought-provoking message that getting into the profession by choice was important and signifying the importance of education as a profession and imparting it to the youth should be focused on character building while mentioning the importance of teaching profession. He said the teachers are those who mould the society and must love students as their own.
The rank holders and deserving students of founded prizes of B Ed and M Ed batches (2018- 19, 2019-20, 2020-21) were felicitated with gold medals by the chief guest and the president of the programme. Deyan Crasta, II B Ed compered the event and Rashmi, II B Ed proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Laveena Reshma D’Sa, assistant professor was the convener of the programme.
The graduation ceremony was witnessed by an audience of 200 which included graduating students, parents, teaching and non-teaching faculty, sisters in the campus, alumni and students.
