Puttur: ‘Train to Karwar Impossible’ – Railways

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Feb 14: In a communiqué addressed to the chamber of commerce and industry here, general  manager (transport) of Konkan Railway Corporation has said that introduction of a new passenger train between Bangalore and Karwar is not feasible for the present.

The letter addressed to the president of the chamber assigns the reason for the same as non-existence of terminal facility in Karwar railway station. The official has pointed out that said terminal is necessary in railway stations that are either starting or destination points of trains.

The letter has been written in reply to a letter earlier addressed to Konkan Railway Corporation by the local unit of the chamber, seeking introduction of train between Bangalore and Karwar via Mangalore for the convenience of the people of the coastal districts.

All these negative thinking officials MUST be removed and put on the border areas. THEY WILL LEARN HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEMS THERE.

If George Fernandes can do an impossible by making Konkan Railway happen, this is a small matter for a willing heart.

If they don’t want to do there are hundred excuses.

DEAR RAILWAY, GET OVER THE HURDLES AND PRODUCE SOME RESULT.

THE PUBLIC IN THIS REGION NEEDS IT.

    Joseph Doha,
Karwar to Bangalore Train requires everyones participation of the sort seen at Tahrir Square in Cairo recently.
Actually it is Railways which has to wake up (not Kannadigas), They have written the communique without realising that there is already a train service originating from Karwar. Moreover there is an option to Start from Madgaon also.

This is utter bullshit !! NOTHING, I re-iterate myself, NOTHING is impossible for the Railways. There is a saying : "Where there is a will there is a way." I strongly speculate that the Kerala ''corridor'' have purchased and greased the palms of the Railway officials. Consider this, even though the per capita income of Kerala is disgustingly weak, in contrast to Karnataka, there is uninterrupted introduction of new trains as per their 'whims and fancies'.

However, when it comes to Karnataka, there are millions of ready-made excuses to by-pass. Furthermore, there is absolutely no logic in their argument and it's utterly baseless statement. They are just giving some blessed excuses to cover up themselves. I agree with Auldius that Kannadigas must wake up. It's high time.

Why it is impossible, everything is possible if there is a will to do so. What is the big deal in getting a terminal facility? This shows clearly that how reluctant our authorities are. There is an immense need for a strong demand from people and people representatives to get this done.

This is nothing but a piece of Hogwash. If the GM of Konkan Railway is saying that they cannot extend the train to Karwar due to the lack of a terminal which is needed for starting\destination stations, can he please explain how did the Konkan Railway launch and successfully run a Mumbai-Karwar train earlier??? Or is he unaware that such a train existed which has now been converted to Mumbai-Mangalore. Please stop fooling the public Mr. GM. Do you think that there are fools sitting at the chamber of commerce and industry?

Is it a big deal for the railways to construct a terminal facility at Karwar? Given the infrastructure capabilities of the railways, it should be a piece of cake for them to construct one. If our elected representatives wake up and put pressure on the railways, it will be a reality in no time. Wake up coastal Kannadigas!

I don't understand why Railways are so reluctant to extend the Bangalore-Mangalore Train upto Karwar. If Karwar Station don't have facelities let the Train may be extended up to Madgoa.
