Mangaluru, Apr 11: A two-day summer camp was organised to the guides of St Agnes CBSE school. Around 40 students along with their guide captains participated in the camp on 5th and 6th of April 2022. The guides were divided into four teams of Rose, Lilly, Tulip and Lotus.
The camp was inaugurated by Shubha Vishwanath who was the chief guest of the day who is also the Leader Trainer for guides and Guide Commissioner of Dakshin Kannada with 25 years of experience as Unit Leader and districy organising commissioner. The inaugural was followed by prayer service, Flag hoisting ceremony with guides anthem and claps.
The first part of the day was a session to the guides by Shubha on various activities to be done as guides, the step-by-step learning on important rules and pattern to be followed by every guides. First aid treatments, Map location, tying different knots etc were skills taught. Post lunch the guides participated in various outdoor games and as the day one came to closure the students refreshed themselves with preparation for further activities. During the night, activities of Newspaper models and Collage making was given to teams and were fabulously presented.
On the second day the guides were taken to hiking at Suratkal Beach. Some activities were conducted in the beach such as different claps, patriotic singing and by afternoon all returned back to the campsite. Post lunch the guides started the preparation for the campfire at night.
The campfire was a grand event with Guest being Sr.Dr. Lydia Fernandes AC, the school principal Sr Maria Gracilda AC, academic co-ordinator Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC and some invited sisters of the St Agnes convent and teachers. The campfire was inaugurated by the guestSr. Dr Lydia Fernandes ACwith guide student captain expressed their vows from each direction and lit the fire. A small entertainment programme was put up by the girl guides such as motivational skit, dance, advertisement, songs etc. followed by dinner and rest. Prizes were distributed to the teams who secured highest points in all activities. Rose team bagged the first place, Lily II nd, Tulip IIIrd and Lotus IVthIt was an informative and relaxing camp for the guides. The event was a success with the planning and preparation of teachers Devika, Babitha, Madhura, Chandrika, Deekshitha and Salvia, Sumitra.
The management congratulates the guides for their active participation and learning and the guidecaptains for their timely training given to the guides and preparing them for future.
