Mangalore, Jan 27: A programme to pay tributes to legendary vocalist, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who breathed his last on Monday January 24, was organized at the cultural programmes dais, Karavali Utsav ground in the city on Tuesday January 25 evening.
“The departure of Pt Bhimsen Joshi is not the loss of Hindustani classical music alone. The entire gamut of music, including music lovers, have lost heavily, because of the sad demise of this exemplary artiste,” said Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, Pradip Kumar Kalkura. He said that Joshi, who had an intimate and inseparable connection with Karnataka coast, has thousands of fans here.
Senior Yakshagana critic, Prabhakar Joshi, scholar, Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, Narendra Nayak of Expert group of educational institutions, Mohan Kudri, officer of the old port here, Rafique Khan and several others were present at the programme.
