Karkala : Attur St Lawrence Fest from Jan 25

Karkala, Jan 25: The annual festival of St Lawrence church in Attur on the outskirts of the town, which is famously known across the state and elsewhere as ‘Attur Saant Mari’, begins today. The festivities will last for three days, till January 27.

The festival will get initiated with the first Holy Mass scheduled to be held at 9.30 am today. During this three-day festival, 28 Holy Masses will be held. Bishop of Gulbarga diocese, Dr Robert Miranda, will lead the Holy Mass to be held in Kannada at 6 pm today. Mangalore Bishop, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, will lead the Holy Mass to be held at 10 am on Wednesday January 26. Provincial of Jesuits of Karnataka, Fr Francis Serrao, SJ, will guide the Eucharist to be held at 10 am on January 27.

The festival is being held under the guidance of parish priest, Fr Arthur Pereira. Vice president of the parish council, John D’Silva, is looking after overall arrangements.
