Udupi, Jan 24: “We have inherited the invaluable treasure of ancient wisdom, in the form of Vedic knowledge. However, we have been unable to milk this knowledge, as we do not have the key to open it. We should make concerted efforts to find this key, and make use of this immense knowledge,” asserted district in-charge minister, Dr V S Acharya.
He was speaking after participating in an the international conference on Vedic knowledge, held on Sunday January 23 at the auditorium of Ambalpady temple here. The conference is being held under the aegis of Vadiraj Research Centre of Puttige Mutt, and the Foundation for Indian Scientific Heritage, Suratkal, in association with Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Deemed University (RSSDU), New Delhi.
Registrar of RSSDU, Dr Ramanuja Devanathan, stressed the need to introduce Vedic texts relating to prosody, grammar, Shiksha, etc, in the syllabus of Sanskrit University.
Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt, who was instrumental in holding this conference, delivering benedictory address on the occasion, said that study of Vedic science has to be carried forward to achieve world peace.
Satishchandra, head of VSM Institute of Aerospace Engineering and Technology from Bangalore, giving details of the research work he has conducted on power generation based on technology as explained in ‘Purusha Sookta’, claimed that the Vedic principles are based on technology. He said that his company has entered into an agreement with the government of Gujarat to produce electricity on these principles, and that his company has also bagged seven patents, out of which one pertains to power generation.
A retired senior officer of atomic energy department, Dr C R Vijayasimhachar, said that the use of solar power finds mention in several chapters of the ancient scriptures. He said that the solar power generator he had created is working even now in Chennai. He added that the ‘Sabhaparva’ of Mahabharat mentions about air-conditioning.
Sri Raghumanyateertha Swamiji of Bheemanakatte Mutt, Dr V R Panchamukhi of Mantralaya Gurusarvabhauma Vidyapeeth, Ni B Vihay Ballal, trustee of Ambalpady temple, and Dr M N Venkatesh, deputy director of folk museum of Kuppam University, who is the coordinator of the conference, were present.
Prof M V Krishnamurty from Hyderabad presided. Dr S Kalyanaraman of Saraswati Research Centre Chennai provided a broad outlook of the conference. A session was conducted on this occasion, in which various papers were presented. Dr Ramanuja Devanathan presided over this session.
