Bangalore, Jan 13: The state High Court (HC), on Wednesday January 12, restrained Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) from publishing the results of the examination conducted by it for the post of gazetted probationers on December 4 last year. This order was issued by a division bench of the HC headed by Justice N Kumar, while hearing a petition filed by Harish Kumar from the city and some others.

The court, while asking KPSC to withhold the results till the appeals filed by the petitioners before Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) are disposed off, also asked KAT to decide the appeals within three months.

All the petitioners in the case had appeared for the preliminary examination conducted by KPSC. However, they were not selected for the final examination. They feel that the procedures mentioned in ‘Karnataka Recruitment of Gazetted Probationers (Appointment by Competitive Examinations) Rules, 1997’, are unscientific. They had approached KAT with a plea to declare the rules as null, and stay holding of the final examination.

The KAT however, refused to stay the final examination. It also had said that it will require time to examine their petitions. Questioning the decision of KAT not to stay the examination, the candidates had approached the HC.
