Bangalore: Riaz Bhatkal Murder – Veracity of Information Yet to be Confirmed

Bangalore, Jan 13: The state police department is yet to receive any conclusive information about the murder of notorious fugitive, Riaz Bhatkal, who allegedly was involved with various terrorist activities including serial blasts in the city, blast near Chinnaswamy Stadium during a cricket match, blast at German Bakery, Pune, and several other cases. Although there have been reports that underworld don, Chota Rajan, has claimed that his group has assassinated Riaz at Terina Market in Pakistan, confusion persists.

Joint police commissioner, Alok Kumar, said that efforts to verify the genuineness of reports about his killing are being made by contacting his home as well as sources in New Delhi.

Riaz, also known as Roshan Khan, is facing charges of masterminding several disruptive and terrorist activities in the country in association with his brother, Iqbal. He is also is said to have been an activist of Students Islamic Movement of India and Lashkar-e-Toiba. The policemen say that the information about his murder, which came from Pakistan, can not be taken at its face value, and that intelligence sources are checking the reports.  Policemen of other states too have been trying vehemently to find out the truth.
