Kasargod: Student Crushed by Falling Bank Locker

Kasargod, Jan 10: Mohammed Shifarat  (16), son of Hassan Kutty and Khairunnisa couple from B K Pare in the town, died after a bank locker suddenly fell on him from above. The incident occurred on Sunday January 9 evening. He was studying in the first PU class of a private college in Cherkala here.

The lockers of a bank functioning in Airlines building on Cherkalapady Road were being shifted to the nearby Hibas building on Sunday. Those who were entrusted with the task of shifting the lockers had placed the lockers ready on the upper floor for shifting.

One of the lockers suddenly fell from the upper floor on Shifarat, who was walking by, crushing him  to death instantly. The boy breathed his last before the people rushed to his rescue and lifted the locker from above his body.

    This is the price one has to pay for hiring unprofessional labourers.
    Many times the client not even understand the job and offer the same to some casual labourers' who have either worked in similar situations nor never handled this type of job.
    Unfortunately the innocent life has been lost due to the decision of the client i.e. the bank who had given this job to the unprofessional labourers’. Wish our judiciary system will punish the bank for their grave mistake as well as the labourer's contract Company.
    Heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved members of the family.
