Beltangady, Jan 8: Different academies have been functioning in the state and children’s literary academy has been already formed in neighbouring states. There is need for formation of children’s literary academy in the state too, said Dr S D Shetty, litterateur and immediate past president of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.
He spoke after inaugurating the Beltangady taluk level children's literature convention held at Ujire Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Kannada Medium School on Saturday January 8 here. Love for mother tongue cannot be forced into one's mind through conventions or speeches. It has to be practiced by the people emotively, he added.
Swati Padvetnaya, president of the convention, Krishna Acharya, president of teachers' union and Kalavati, head teacher among others were present.
Valedictory Ceremony
Litterateur K T Gatty addressed the gathering at the valedictory ceremony of Beltangady taluk level children's literature convention held at Ujire Shri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara Kannada Medium School
Swathi Padvetnaya presided. Kannada Sahitya Parishad secretary Ramakrishna Bhat Chokkady, Mohan Jain, Radhakrishna S, Aravind Chokkady, Harish M U took part.
Krishna Acharya welcomed the gathering. Kalavati delivered the vote of thanks.
The convention was organized under the joint auspices of Kannada Sahithya Parishad, Beltangady, Ujire Jaycees, Beltangady taluk high school and Pre-university Assistant Teacher' Union and State High School Assistant Teachers' Union.
