Kundapur: Three Held for Possessing Foreign Brand Cigarettes

Kundapur, Dec 24: Officials of Udupi district customs department took into custody three persons from here on the evening of Thursday December 23. They have been accused of smuggling foreign-made cigarettes from Kasargod to Mumbai. The value of cigarettes confiscated from their possession has been put at six lac rupees.

The arrested people have been identified as Abdulla, Latif and Yousuf, from Kasargod. They were allegedly taking foreign brand cigarettes in buses belonging to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and a private bus.

Customs superintendent, Devadas, inspectors, Prabhakar and Narasimhamurty, had taken part in the operation.
