Mangaluru, Jan 31: Physical fitness is the need of the hour and our school epitomizes fitness among all the students, hence to encourage and enliven the ongoing school academics, sports activities were organized.
"We must say that we are lucky to have a principal who is an enthusiastic sports person himself and has a great interest in the all-round development of students."
Teachers organized a sports week in the month of December following the covid protocol. Students from Classes 1-12 had various sports events. All the students participated with great zeal and enjoyed the week. The overall trophy was bagged by Amber house and the runners up trophy was bagged by coral house. The prize distribution was held on January 29, 2022 at 08:00 am in the school grounds.
The dignitaries present were FrSuraj Lobo, assistant parish priest, Ashok Pinto, Preethi Gomes the members of parish pastoral parishad, Bejai.
Fr Suraj Lobo, the guest of honour for the day spoke on the occasion and said that he was astounded by the silence and discipline at LCS. He stressed that sports is not about competition, it is fun, being active, building confidence, patience, zeal and sportsmanship. He reiterated that sportsis an integral part of what we do. He mentioned that the key aspect of a good sports personality is to be disciplined, focused and to never give up. He congratulated the students for their determination, success and hard work. He said that all are winners! He continued saying that “Great individuals make great success out of failure, but at the same time they don’t lose hope”. He quoted what Pope Francis said “Sports remains a game – good for the body and spirit but there is something more i.e. challenge yourself.” He said that LCS is focused on both in academics and extra-curricular activities. He congratulated the principal, teaching and non-teaching staff of LCS and said that they all deserve a big round of applause.
The principal Fr Robert D Souza appreciated the PE teachers and all others who involved in making the programme successful.
The wide variety of games involved and each Lourdite were happy to take part in the school sports events even if circumstances were restricted for fun and games.
