Udupi: Carmel English Medium School begins New Year with gratitude

Udupi, Jan 10: Christmas is the day Christians commemorate the birthday of Jesus Christ. As the entire world celebrates this day with joy and full of bliss irrespective of caste or creed, Carmel English Medium School, Kemmannu takes pride in celebrating this memorable with a difference.

The celebration began by invoking Almighty’s blessings. The guest of the function Abbas Sahib, Sherel Almeida and Nalinakshi N and M S Khan along with the headmistress Sr Silvian A C graced the occasion. With honour to welcome the guest, a welcome dance was performed. The guest delivered their speech on 'Unity with all Religions'. Further, to elevate the theme of Christmas, the students tapped their feet to the song 'Rudolf the reindeer' which created a merry atmosphere. The significance of Christmas was enacted with a dance drama highlighting the purpose behind the coming of Christ in our midst. All were overwhelmed by the performance.

On this special occasion,the three guest awarded the prizes to the winners of Drawing, Rangoli, Spell bee, Carol singing competition.

The headmistress Sr Silvian introduced the chief guest and felicitated them with a fragrant memonto. She also added “Christmas is an occasion to share and care. Giving and sacrificing without having selfish feelings." The headmistress was glad with the entire programme presented by all the classes and appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers and students of Carmel English School.

The out- reach programme for Christmas was carried on by inviting the school bus, van and rickshaw drivers who were given a taste of Christmas and New Year on January 2. Great was the joy to share and to express our care with all our shop keepers outside our school campus by our offering of cake and Christmas sweets to them. The year began with the note of gratitude.
