Lions Club Mangaluru Balmatta forms Leo Club at Social Work Roshni Nilaya

Mangaluru, Jan 4: Lions club Mangaluru Balmatta in association with School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, carried out the formation of the Leo Club Roshni Mangaluru Balmatta District 317D on January 3, 2022 in which new members were inducted into the welcoming arms of Lions Clubs International.

The meeting commenced by president of Lion Lancy Carlo calling the meeting/event to order. It was followed by a prayer song lead by the Leos.

Lion Christopher conducted the flag salutation. Welcome speech was delivered by the president Lion Lancy Carlo who shared his early life experience and explained the value of education that was provided those days in a situation of lack of facilities and funds. He also spoke about the joy received by serving the society which is permanent unlike the one found in materialistic things.

Suman S Attavar, student president of School of Social Work proudly called out the names of the Leos to be inducted followed by the oath taking ceremony where the Leos were officially sworn-in by Leo Kavan Kubevoor, the district Leo president and were presented with roses by the members of Lions Club Mangaluru Balmatta.

The newly elected Leo cabinet members consisting of the President Leo Vernon Chris Pinto, vice-precident Leo Arnold D'Silva, secretary Sarah Nasir Sheikh and treasurer Leo Vikas J Nayak were concicely introduced by Sarik Ankitha by a short and sweet introduction speech.

The district governor of the Lions District 317D, Lion Vasanth Kumar Shetty was introduced by Lion Pooja Jalan, Leo advisor. Lion Vasanth Kumar Shetty shared some motivational words on what it takes to be a just leader. He emphasised on the importance of a leader that speaks less and listens more. He then sworn-in the newly elected Leo cabinet whilst reminding them of their duties and obligations towards both Leo Club and the society itself.

The charter certificate and the Club Banner was then presented to the newly appointed Leo cabinet.

The Lions along with the Leo Club cabinet lit the lamp as symbol of inauguration of new Leo Club Roshni Mangaluru Balmatta and a group photo was taken to cherish the wonderful and historical moment.

The charter president of the Leo Club Roshni Mangaluru Balmatta shared his joy in his acceptance speech and expressed his immense gratitude on being accepted as the president.

Dr Juliet CJ, the chief guest of the event shared examples on how Lions Clubs have positively impacted and served the society. She also expressed her gratitude to the Lions Clubs for introducing SSW Roshni Nilaya to such a character building opportunity. A momento of appreciation was presented among the dignitaries. Lion Vijay Vishnu Mayya and Lion Dr Rameela Pujary felicitated with their highly motivational and encouraging words.

The meeting came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered to the honourable guests as well as the newly inducted members by the charter secretary Leo Sarah Nasir Sheikh.

Finally, the event was adjourned with the ringing of the bell followed by the national anthem.
