Mangaluru, Dec 6: The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
The day December 3 is marked and recognised as International Day of Persons with disabilities. A day to commemorate was well remembered in St Agnes School CBSE Mangaluru. A small recognition was made through a meaningful prayer service by grade VII students giving the significance of the day with a beautifully displayed notice board.
A group of students of grade IX accompanied by the teachers Sumitra and Monisha and Sr Marina D’Cunha the vice-principal visited the Veronica Vihar ‘the home of the differently abled’ on December 3, 2021 at 1 pm. The group of inmates consists of different age groups from young to old. The students along with the teachers entertained them with singing Christmas carols, conducted games and had interaction with one another sharing their joy and sorrow. As a part of enrichment certain basic essential things were shared. It was a joyful and memorable day.
