Mangaluru: St Agnes PU College organises self-defense training programme

Mangaluru, Dec 3: St Agnes PU College in collaboration with KSRP inaugurated a self-defence training programme for students on December 2 in the college auditorium.

The programme commenced with the lightning of the lamp. The students gave a demonstration of basic self-defence techniques taught by trainer Arun Kumar who has been serving in the police department for the past 41 years. They also demonstrated techniques on how to protect and defend themselves in times of danger. Arun Kumar, the self-defence trainer was felicitated for his relentless service of 41 years of service. 

The chief guest, Dy Sp Hem Kumar complimented the students and their trainer for their wonderful presentation of the self-defence techniques. He stressed on the fact that each one should have a good knowledge about self-defence which helps to build up self-confidence and overall personality of an individual.

Principal Sr Norine D'Souza emphasized about how the college has upheld women empowerment for the past hundred years and is still continuing in the post centenary year. She congratulated and appreciated the students for making the most of the opportunity given to them and also appreciated the zeal of the trainer who taught and trained the students with enthusiasm.

In her feedback, Saakshi spoke about how the sessions and the practice enabled the group to protect themselves in every trying situation.

The occasion was graced by reserve inspector Mohammed Harees, reserve police Arun Kumar and convenor of ‘Abhaya’ Dr Tressie Menezes.

The programme was compered by Jyothi, Ashwin welcomed the gathering and Dr Tressie proposed the vote of thanks.
