Puttur, Nov 27: In connection with the murder of Jagadish (58), a Mysuru-based photographer reportedly by his own relative, another accused was taken into custody by the Puttur rural police son Friday November 26. The arrested accused happens to be Jayaraj Shetty (48) from Anile in Badagannur village in the taluk. With this, the total number of arrested persons in this case has touched 5.
District superintendent of police, Rishikesh Sonawane, said that Shetty was taken into custody on the accusation of plotting the said murder. Shetty was named as accused in the murder case of Tingaladi Umesh Rai a few years back. He was arrested but was later acquitted for want of evidence. The current murder has striking similarities with the murder of Tingaladi Umesh Rai, it is learnt. The policeman said that when questioning the accused in police custody, the role played by Jayaraj Shetty came to light.
Four persons including a woman were arrested in the case earlier. Three of them are in police custody while the lone woman has been remanded to judicial custody.
