Kasargod, Nov 12: Padma (48), wife of Munikrishna, and Savitri (49), wife of Venkatesh, both members of the notorious Dandupalya Gang from Bangalore, were produced in the court of the first class magistrate here on Thursday November 11. They are presently lodged on remand in Kanhangad sub-jail.

The two have been sighted as the seventh and eighth accused respectively, in the murder of Bifatima living in Talangare Khasi Line, and her housemaid, Selvi from Tamilnadu. The two were murdered by tightening nooses made of plastic ropes around their necks, some time back.

After the local policemen failed to show any progress in the case, the case had been transferred to the crime branch, Kannur. During the interrogation by the policemen from Mangalore, who had arrested a few members of the said gang relating to a murder, the gang members had revealed about their involvement in the said murders. The Karnataka policemen had later arrested the accused women, and the crime branch Kasargod had applied for their custody in the court here. The court had, accordingly, issued production warrant to the officials of Bangalore central jail.
