Mangalore, Nov 9: Cloudy weather in the evening continued to be the main feature of the climate in Karnataka’s coastal belt on Monday November 8. Sporadic rainfall was reported from a few places in the twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
Some rains were experienced in Beltangady, Puttur and Bantwal taluks. Light rains soaked Sullia since evening. Subrahmanya got continuous drizzle since morning. The city too experienced some rains in the evening. Some rains were also received in Kundapur taluk in the afternoon, which intensified in the evening.
In Kundapur taluk, the farmers, who were hoping to harvest paddy crop on Monday, could not do so because of rains. A thatched house owned by Koragu Shedti in Beloor village collapsed due to rains. Other than purse siene boats, no other mechanized boats took to fishing from Gangolli fishing port because of tumultous sea.
The meteorological department has warned that rains caused by cyclonic conditions may hit the state’s coast during the next two days. It has said that the quantum of rainfall might exceed 125 mm.
