Mangalore, Oct 30: An emergency meeting was held in the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district on Friday October 29, to consider the issue of making the roads coming under the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and passing through the city, which are in despicable condition now, motorable again. The meeting was chaired by DC, Subodh Yadav.
After holding detailed discussions with the officials of NHAI at the meeting, the DC instructed them to make use of all the facilities and equipments available with them to repair the road between Nantoor in the city Pumpwell Circle. He wanted the road repairs of this stretch to be completed before November 4.
The DC instructed the traffic policemen to enforce one-way traffic for helping the officials to conduct road repairs during the period. It was decided to follow this method for repairing other roads too, if this experiment succeeds in yielding good result.
The DC also asked NHAI to extend full cooperation in maintaining the roads in good condition at all times. He assured that the district administration would extend full support to NHAI in its endeavours towards this direction. He later held discussions with the traffic policemen about traffic arrangements.
