Mangaluru, Oct 6: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) is hosting the weeklong ‘MSNIM-KCCI HR Conclave 2021 on Workplace 4.0’ in association with Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) at the institute campus at Bondel in the city. The objective of the conclave is to enable MBA students, academicians and professionals to understand the current requirements of the workplace in industry post pandemic from corporate HR heads.
The conclave was formally inaugurated on Monday, October 4, 2021 by Shashidhar Pai Maroor, the newly elected president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Manel Annappa Nayak, vice president, Women’s National Education Society and chief advisor, MSNIM presided over the function. The dignitaries present were the institute’s Governing Body member Jeevandas Narayan (former CMD of State Bank of Travancore), P B Ahmed Mudassar (director and head of Industry-Academia Inter Connect, KCCI) and Mytreya Ajila (COO of KCCI).
In his inaugural address, the chief guest Shashidhar Pai Maroor stressed on the role of the institution in grooming students to be the future leaders. “In today’s world, the industry-academia connect is essential for engaging students to gain firsthand knowledge of industry practices. This will help in minimising the gap between industry and academics,” he said.
Jeevandas Narayan spoke about the increase in digitization of workplaces and the need for students to adapt to the ‘phygital’ world, which is a combination of physical and digital.
In his presidential address, Manel Annappa Nayak encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs by looking for avenues for setting up their own businesses.
Richard Lobo, executive vice president-HR, Infosys Ltd delivered the keynote address for the conclave. He spoke on the topic 'Thriving in the new world of work'. Asserting that work will continue in the hybrid mode, he observed that there is a shift in the workplace. “Business beyond business will be the new world of work,” he said, “Hierarchies will go away in the long run and work will become more network focussed. There will be flexibility in the workforce leading to more opportunities for employees, newer technologies with better digital experiences and working in teams. People who can adapt best to the changes in the new world will do well.”
Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, director, MSNIM welcomed the gathering. Reema Agnes Frank, assistant professor, MSNIM, gave a briefing about the conclave. Muddassir Khadar, assistant professor, MSNIM gave a vote of thanks. Nanditha Sunil, assistant professor, MSNIM was the master of ceremonies.
The conclave, which is being held in hybrid mode, will continue up to Friday, October 8, 2021 with a galaxy of eminent speakers like Nidhi Pasricha (associate director –Talent, Ernst and Young), Surya Mohapatra (global head-Talent Transformation, Wipro), Sandeep SP (country HR head, Rolls Royce India), Rajesh Prasad (HR lead business partner – Wipro), Joseph Pasanga (regional director – South, Narayana Health), Srinivas Bhat (HR head, Diya Systems) and Dr Ronald Sequiera (VP, HR and operations, Arvind Motors).
An alumni panel comprising the institute’s past students Zeeval Khan, Ankitha Shetty, Sandeep Baliga and Raghavendra Bhat will also participate in the conclave.
