Mangaluru: Carmel School celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Mangaluru, Oct 2: To commemorate the 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of Our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a programme was organized in Carmel School on October 2, 2021. The students of class 7 displayed the values and discipline of Mahatma Gandhi’s life through a short and meaningful programme.

The programme commenced with honouring Gandhiji and Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri with lighting the lamp and garlanding the portraits of both the leaders by the principal, Sr Sarika and administrator Sr Rose Agnes along with Sr Preena - vice principal, Sr Shanthi Laveena - the coordinator and Margaret Monteiro - assistant teacher. The occasion began with the prayer dance followed by a short prayer service. The importance of the day was highlighted by Joshua, Shannon and Sanjana. The students stressed on the values practiced by Gandhiji and the contributions of Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri to our nation.

A skit was displayed on the values imbibed by Gandhiji in his personal life as well as on the society for the betterment of the people.

Sr Sarika, the principal, urged the students to follow the footsteps of Gandhiji and lead the nation to a greater height as future citizens in her message and also led them in taking the pledge on this day.

The programme was compered efficiently by the students of class 7. The gathering was welcomed by Sania Hani and the vote of thanks was proposed by Hansika.
