Mangaluru, Sep 29: Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangaluru in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association, D K district, local branch, Mangaluru and Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Karnataka State Branch, Bengaluru celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2021 with the theme 'Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health' on September 25, 2021 at Valachil campus of Mangaluru.
During this Covid pandemic situation, pharmacy students are deprived the opportunity to visit and witness the operational procedures in different pharmaceutical industries which manufacture different types of pharmaceutical formulations. The virtual tour involved all stages of manufacture from the receipt of raw materials, the filling of ampoules, vials, sealing, labelling and testing procedures till packing of finished products.
Keeping this fact in mind Dr A R Shabaraya, principal and director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy, president, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, D K district, local branch, Mangaluru has organised virtual tour of Pharmaceutical Industry (Parental division) which was ably explained by Dr Krishnananda Kamath, professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy. This programme was well received by the pharmacy professionals and students.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr T V Narayana, national president, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Mumbai. He briefly outlined the history of Indian Pharmaceutical Association and informed about various scholarships offered by Indian Pharmaceutical Association. Dr M Khalid Ahmed Khan, secretary, IPA, Karnataka State Branch, Bengaluru has outlined the importance of World Pharmacists Day.
Experts from Pharmaceutical industry Pooja Korgaonkar, general manager, quality assurance, Laxman S, unit head, Centur Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Goa were also present in the interactive session of the virtual tour. Dr A R Shabaraya convener of the programme welcomed the guests and outlined the significance of observing World Pharmacists Day.
Dr EVS Subrahmanyam, professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy and vice president, IPA local branch, Shripathy D, assistant professor and Viresh K Chandur, assistant professor coordinated the programme.
