Mangaluru, Sep 28: Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO) Abu Dhabi along with Samanvaya Trust, Mangaluru jointly organised the scholarship disbursal programme on Sunday September 26 at St Joseph Church Hall Bajpe.
The chief guest of the function Dr Pius Fidelis Pinto, managing trustee of Samanvaya inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Having distributed the scholarship of Rs 5 lac to 28 students he lauded the noble task of selfless giving that KCO does with Samanvaya annually. In his speech he said that the service that was rendered by KCO in the past 25 years of its existence is commendable. He advised the students to pave the path of success through 3D principle of duty, dedication and determination.
The founder of KCO and the president of the function Leo Rodrigues shared his feelings and views with the students. “The KCO will work for the betterment of the society in the field of health by providing assistance to the needy sick and educate the poor brilliant students to reach their aspired goal,” he said.
In the introductory speech Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya explained the closely knit bond between KCO and Samanvaya. In the past 18 years KCO in collaboration with Samanvaya has given away 1,538 scholarships to 560 students to a tune of Rs 1 crore 29 lac.
KCO vice president Valerian D’Almeida welcomed the gathering, past president Michael D’silva proposed the vote of thanks and Dr Ronald Cutinha compered. KCO members and welwishers Frankline D’cunha, Gerry D’Mello, Melwyn Pinto, Robert Rego and Canute were present. Winnifred Pinto and scholarship students sang the prayer song.
