Mangaluru, Sep 28: The Canara Organisation for Development and Peace (CODP) Mangaluru organized an awareness programme for women on Covid Appropriate Behaviour, POCSO and Cancer for CODP’s self-help group women at Talapady panchayat hall.
Lenet Gonsalves, the programme manager of CODP educated women on Covid-19 behaviors, seeking medical help whenever required and home based care of asymptomatic and mild cases.
The Sakhi administrator Priya said, “'Sakhi’ is a one-stop centre for women who undergo problems such as domestic violence, rape, harassment and many other such issues. The centre provides all the facilities such as legal assistance, counselling, medical treatment, police help and temporary stay facility for women. The one stop centre Sakhi is functioning at new building of Lady Goschen hospital which functions 24*7”.
She informed about the help lines 181, 112 set up by the Government to assist women and children who are in need of immediate help, rescue etc. Moreover, she advised that women should take that step of getting help so that things can at least start to get better instead of bearing the abuse.
Thereafter, Shilpa D’Souza, coordinator of Sparsha-campaign against cancer, showed the video documentary on cancer prepared by CODP to the participants.
The programme was organized under the leadership of the Vani Poojary, the women empowerment staff of KROSS. Total participants who attended were 50.
