Mangalore, Oct 19: The entire coast received normal to heavy rains since Monday October 18 morning. Sullia and Beltangady taluks in Dakshina Kannada district in particular, accounted for heavy downpour.
Cloudy weather with intermittent rains was experienced in all the taluks of the two districts. The city received rains in the morning, and again after dusk on Monday. The inter-state level Kabaddi tournament under way at Moodbidri was affected because of the rains. The rain also played spoilsport with the Sharadotsava procession for the immersion of the idol of the Goddess, taken out on Monday night. The idol was installed and worshipped in the premises of Acharya Mutt in Lord Venkatramana temple here. Minor damages to houses due to rain have been reported from some villages.
Heavy rains pounded Gulbarga district, with Chittapur in the district recording ten cm of rain. The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains during the next two days in coastal Karnataka, with the possibility of the rainfall exceeding 65 mm.
