Mangaluru, Sep 25: The UG and PG departments of Biotechnology of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru have jointly organized a National Level Webinar on 'Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Practices in India-Innovation and Research into Patents' on September 23, 2021 through Zoom platform.
The objective of the webinar is to be aware of Intellectual Property Rights for faculties, students and the research community. This webinar focused on patent, design patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, the commercialization of patents, and IP laws applicable in India.
Around 200 participants from across India had participated. Ramya Seshadri, Registered Indian Patent Agent, ex -patent associate, at Lawyers Collective HIV/AIDS Unit (LCHAU) was the resource person. She stressed the importance of patents in research and gave insights on various aspects of applying for patents.
Sreejesh P C, assistant professor and HoD, department of Biotechnology was the convener, Dr Shreelalitha Suvarna, assistant professor and HoD, department of PG studies and Research in Biotechnology was the co-convener and Renita Maria D’Souza, assistant professor, department of Biotechnology was the organizing secretary of the programme.
