Mangaluru, Sep 20: Muhammed Rafique (54), a resident of Marpithota on Vijaya College Road, Mulky, ended his life on Sunday September 19 by hanging himself. He was an auto rickshaw driver by profession. He has left behind wife and four daughters.
Rafique, who used to work as an auto rickshaw driver at Mulky, as usual, came home in the afternoon for lunch. Unseen by others, he hanged himself by using a rope tied to the roof beam. His mother, concerned that her son did not come out even in the evening, called another auto rickshaw driver and got the door opened. After finding that Rafique had ended his life, the police were informed. A case was registered at Mulky police station.
In a death note left behind, the deceased expressed the wish that his body should be cremated as per Hindu traditions. In consultation with the family and elder local members of Muslim community, his mortal remains were cremated.
