Mangaluru, Sep 18: Lourdes Central School reopened on September 17, 2021 for Classes IX, X and XI. Students entered the school portals for offline classes with much hope and aspiration to revive again after remaining closed for many months due to Covid-19 pandemic. All the standard safety procedures were observed following government safety protocols as children entered the school premises. A written consent form was collected from the students.
The school held a special morning assembly at 8.00 am in the school ground to welcome the children of classes IX to XII. The assembly began with the universal prayer, followed by the prayer song sung by the melodious teacher’s choir of LCS. Deepa D’Souza and Shaila Pereira rendered intentions and petitions before the Almighty. Linet DSouza enlightened the students with the thought for the day. Gowri Ravi delivered a motivational speech and reassured the students that they can always find opportunities in difficult times and choose to be optimistic. A welcome song sung by the teachers accelerated the whole atmosphere.
The principal Fr Robert D Souza addressed the students and said that they are the life of the school. He appreciated them for joining online classes. He expressed that students were the real warriors during this pandemic. He stated that it is because of the presence of the children, the school is full of life.
The manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha was indeed happy to see the students in school in large number and expressed that it was a happy moment for all. He was grateful to the parents for monitoring the physical, psychological and emotional mind set of the students during this pandemic. He insisted that students wear either N95 or surgical mask, as safety of students and teachers is his priority.
The programme ended with the school anthem. The programme was compered by Vidhya Joseph. In a small group of 20 to 22 students were conducted briefing sessions with regard to Covid SOPs and other important matters with motivational videos and stories by the teachers.
