Udupi, Sep 10: Karnataka Pradesh Congress president D K Shivakumar has handed over an ambulance to Ishwar Malpe who has been rescuing people in danger of drowning risking his own life. The ambulance was handed over to Ishwar Malpe at the Congress Bhavan here.
Former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said that Ishwar Malpe had brought to the notice of D K Shivakumar during the interaction with fishermen at Malpe port last time the need of an ambulance in the rescue operations. “Ishwar has been helping others selflessly though he is poor. There are seven thousand boats in Malpe and accidents are frequent. I had arranged for a permanent ambulance for Malpe when I was the minister. I hope that pain and loss of lives do not occur and the ambulance will not be needed. Congress party has to pay the debt to everybody. The ambulance should not be disrespected just because it has the party symbol. The fishermen association will oversee the operation of the ambulance,” he said.
Ishwar Malpe is working to save lives in the sea despite his poverty. Daijiworld had thrown light on his life in a special interview with him recently.
