Mangalore, Oct 8: Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing organized a regional conference on ‘Enhancing skills for nursing research’ at A J Institute of Medical Sciences auditorium on Tuesday October 5.
The conference was presided over by A J Shetty, president of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust. Dr Juliana D’Sa, head of the department, OBG, Yenepoya College of Nursing was the chief guest. She emphasized on nursing research and its importance and the various skills that has to be developed to become a good researcher.
Professor Larissa Martha Sams, principal, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing also addressed the gathering. The theme was revealed by organizing secretary Robin Varghese. Linda Babu welcomed the gathering and Rengith delivered the vote of thanks.
The workshop was divided into six sessions. Introduction to nursing research was dealt by professor Alice Salins, vice-principal, Alva’s College of Nursing. The problem statement and objectives was dealt by Dr Suja Karkada followed by review of literature by professor Leena K C. Dr Juliana D’Sa explained the research design. Sampling and sampling techniques were explained by professor Jasmine Benny. The final session was conducted by professor Asha P Shetty on proposal writing.
