Mangalore, Oct 6: Dramatic! That’s what Tabassum reacted on seeing the result of her liposuction procedure done at Yenepoya Specialty Hospital, Mangalore. Having considered several hospital abroad, as a person of Indian origin residing in South Africa, but having connections in Mangalore, she found it natural to come here for a major Cosmetic Surgery procedure for the cost benefits in addition to a visit to India.
She was recommended Dr Satish Bhat, Plastic Microvascular & Cosmetic Surgeon at Arogya Specialty Clinic, Mangalore. Though not really overweight, Tabassum had excess fat in her tummy, hips, inner & outer thighs and the buttock area, making her look badly out of shape. Of late, she was becoming more reluctant to socialize, from the fear that her awkward shape was easily noticed. Dr Bhat initially explained that surgery for all the areas in a single setting would be quite extensive for a 55kg person, and only 3
of the 4 problem areas should be tackled initially. However, as the surgery proceeded smoothly, Dr Bhat was able to tackle the 4th area as well.
Ultimately, Tabassum lost 6litres of fat in a single surgical procedure. Though it is not common to remove 10%body weight by liposuction in a single procedure, the patient’s good overall health permitted the additional surgery. Her subsequent recovery was smooth. As she prepared to leave for her home two weeks after the surgery, she is grateful for the good result that will give her a new self-confidence. By completing everything in a single surgery, the benefit of avoiding an additional trip & hospitalization was immense.
Liposuction is a standard procedure with minimal scars that is designed to remove fat from local areas where the accumulation causes loss of body shape/figure. When done by experts, with suitable training, the procedure is safe & gives satisfying, long lasting results. Such procedures, when done by semi-qualified persons can result in major complications-these instances usually get impressed in the minds of the layman when mentioned in the media. A qualified plastic surgeon can usually predict the limits of
safety and avoid mishaps.
