Davangere, Oct 6: A function had been organized on Tuesday October 5 at the government high school ground here on the occasion of the 61st birth day of Ashok Kheny, who has been facing various agitations launched and court cases filed, by former Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, relating to the execution of Bangalore-Mysore Corridor Project by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Project headed by him.
Speaking on the occasion, Pejawar Mutt Swamiji, Sri Vishweshsateertha, advised Kheny to claim only the minimum land required for executing the road project. “Please ensure that agricultural lands are not taken over excessively for commercial projects,” he advised him. He also expressed himself strongly in favour of the government holding a dialogue with Kheny over the land already acquired, and pay justifiable compensation to those who have lost their lands. “The court verdict on Ayodhya dispute had given rise to a new era of peace and harmony between Hindus, Muslims and Christians. All the communities should lay stress on harmony and work to spread this ideal,” he said.
Dr Shivakumara Swamiji of Tumkur Siddhaganga Mutt, in his benedictory address, wished that the youth will get inspiration from Kheny, who has been serving the people in an exemplary manner. Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living Foundation, praised Kheny for the social service activities undertaken by him in the country, as opposed to those who migrate to foreign countries and work for the development of those countries.
Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt said that people will always support Kheny for noble tasks undertaken by him. Ramachandrapur Mutt Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji said that those who tread on righteous path can rest assured of success in their endeavours.
Panchamsali Mutt Sri Siddaligneshwara Shivacharya Swamiji pledged support of Swamijis to good works undertaken by good people. Niranjananandapuri Swamiji of Kaginele Kanaka Peeta honoured Kheny by draping a shawl around him.
