Mangaluru, Aug 26: At Manipal School, we believe that career awareness is an essential first step in building students’ understanding of the working world. This year we launched the Middle School career awareness activities with questionnaires, aptitude surveys and classroom speakers. Our first speaker was Pranav Srisrimal. An alumnus of the first batch of the school Pranav was an outstanding student and held various leadership positions during his schooling years. Pranav has completed his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, and is currently working for Fractal Analytics as an Imagineer.
Sharing his journey in the middle school Pranav said that he had loved playing cricket and he aspired to be a cricketer. There was a time when he was fascinated by huge buildings and their design and wanted to be an architect. But it was his experience of participating in a national level science fair conducted at IIT, Mumbai that got him hooked to the learning of Science. Pranav explained to the students that understanding a subject is more important than scoring marks. He encouraged students to ask questions as they had wonderful teachers at school who would help them find the answers.
In closing, Pranav urged his young friends to 'Always believe in yourself and love yourself'.
Manipal School has always focused on the holistic development of the students. With new age career options coming up, it is important to help students to receive the right career counselling. Even in the remote learning scenario, the school has conducted a series of virtual career guidance sessions for the students of Grade X during the academic year 2020-21. Taking forward this tradition, Manipal school launched the career guidance programme for the academic year 2021-22 in the month of July, this time for Middle school students too. Research has identified middle school as a time when students can benefit the most from career exploration, a process of building self-awareness, learning about potential careers, and developing a plan for reaching future goals.
