Udupi, Sep 29: Ahead of the Allahabad Court’s verdict on the Ayodhya issue, deputy commissioner (DC) Hemalata P called a peace meeting here on Wednesday September 29 in order to take precautionary measures to maintain the law and order situation in the district.
The verdict is scheduled to be announced on Thursday September 30 at 3.30 pm.
Leaders of merchants’ associations, heads of various mosques, representatives of Hindu Jagaran Vedike, the Vishwa Hindu Parishat, the BJP, and the Congress, as well as other political parties, attended the peace meeting held at the DC’s office here on Wednesday.
The district administration urged the heads of all political parties and other organizations to advise their activists to assist in maintaining peace and to avoid any unlawful situation. They were also urged to cooperate with the district administration in this regard.
