Bengaluru, Aug 24: Higher Education and Skills, IT & BT Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has asked industrialists to make full use of digital technology for value addition and enhance their business profitability.
Dr Narayan, who held discussions with industrialists in Kalaburgi district on Tuesday, pointed out that digital technology has found uses in all sectors of economy and even in agriculture.
The entrepreneurs should make use of digital technology for improving agriculture and ensure value addition of agriculture produce and thereby contribute to the farm sector, he said.
The Minister said the Beyond Bengaluru initiative implemented by the State Government was aimed at encouraging industrial growth and spread of industries in tier 2 and 3 cities. The State Government was ready to offer lands and speedy approvals and clearances besides providing training facilities, he said.
Dr Narayan said the New Education Policy 2020 being implemented by Karnataka, the first state to do so, was aimed at improving the quality of education and promoting entrepreneurship among the younger generation. Education is the foundation for developing good industrialists and entrepreneurs, he said and stressed the need for skills development among the students.
The Minister later held discussions with writers on the NEP.
He also inaugurated the one-day workshop organized by the Gulbarga University at Ambedkar Bhavan. MLA Basavaraj Mattimooda, MLCs Shashil Namoshi, B G Patil, Umashankar and Kalaburgi district BJP president Shivaraj Patil Raddevadigi attended.
