Mangaluru, Aug 23: Management education is about hands on learning and honing necessary managerial, decision making, organizing and leadership skills to manage businesses and build successful enterprises. With this end in mind the department of MBA & MCom at College of Management and Commerce organized a series of events for the students to showcase and develop the necessary experiential learning concepts that were taught in the classrooms and transform them to real world lerning.
Magma 2021 was organized for MBA and MCom students on July 15, 2021 on various management topics. The MBA and MCom students organized the events, planned and conducted events for the undergraduate students of various colleges of the region and outside. Total of 11 teams participated in the event. The event had rounds from all different specialization. Best Manager, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Quiz, and Photography events were conducted with 3-4 rounds of activities monitored and guided by faculty members.
To add an element of importance to grooming and appearance for the final semester students as they step out to the corporate world, a 'The Corporate Icon' event was organized where students dressed in corporate business attire and had to give taglines and one line goals to their personas, which developed future thinking and goal orientation which was coupled with a goal setting exercise they had done in their first semester at the college and they were asked to track their acomplishments so far.
With aim of creating and nurturing business startup culture among students, a two days event titled B-pitch was organized. B-Pitch is an intra-collegiate Business Plan presentation competition for the students pursuing MBA and MCom course, where more than 95 students have participated. They planned a new start up idea from scratch and drew up a business plan and presented it through audio vidual aides to a panel of judges. The best two start up reports have been sent to Idea Inc Pvt Ltd, an angel investor firm in Bangaluru for consideration for funding by the department head.
An event to show case the the top 30 business destinations across the world so as to introduce students to the concept of entrpreneurial thinking, skills, and ease of doing business, Matrix – 2021, dimensions of International business across the globe, was organized. Students studied the allotted countries and make beautiful very informative presentations on the countries.
Apart from this several activities such as resume writing competition, video resume making, debate competitions, creative writing competition, dance competition, video making competition and a national webinar on 'Leadership Skills for 2021 and beyond' by a resource person Dr Sudhindra Bhat were organized and all the students participated very enthusiastically and benefitted from these events which had hdelped them face interbviews with ease and many have already received offer letters from companies.
