Chikmagalur, Sep 28: The fact that a legislator as well as an MP of the ruling party participated in a protest organized against their own government, raised many eyebrows on Monday September 27. Local MLA, C T Ravi, who was charged by the protestors of apathy in getting the Dattapeetha cave repaired early, surprised the protestors by joining them.
The protest was organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, urging early implementation of cow slaughter bill and urgent repairs of Dattapeetha cave in Bababudangiri hills near here. The protestors expressed anguish at the inability of the government and local MLA’s apathy at not conducting repairs of the cave that had suffered damages last year, and raised slogans.
C T Ravi, who came later, sat with those sitting on dharna. MP, D V Sadanand Gowda (DVS), who arrived thereafter, also joined the protestors, who were raising slogans against the state Governor and the BJP government. A few persons commented that Ravi joined the protestors, as he was angry at not being made a minister. Ravi later doled out promises of early action to the protestors, and pacified them.
